It’s been a month with my back aches. 5 physiotherapy visits, 2 thai massages, vigorous back rubs with Geliga balm and no handling of heavy packages STILL DOESN’T SOLVE MY BACK PAINS. I feel I am in grave danger with my back being like that. I hope it’s just a simple back pain and nothing is growing in my spinal cord. I am so worried. Tomorrow I’m going to see a chiropractor. If it doesn’t work, I’ll probably go for an x-ray of my spine. *BIG SIGHS*
I promise to share my experience of opening my online cart before but I’ve yet to solve the modules in the making. I’m having major headaches and concern about what’s going on with my currency!
Anyway,
I am using Prestashop (from France) as my Online Cart to sell my goods. The drawbacks are plenty. But it’s pretty user friendly. Except for the many mishaps and mind boggling coordination. Not much complains though I wouldn’t advise someone who doesn’t know any php to use this software. You must have ample knowledge of php in order to process your payments. Otherwise don’t BOTHER using this open source software. So this is my best warning I can give you!
I came across many previous shopping carts which are pretty good. Like:
Magento
Zen Cart
Cube Cart
I pick Magento if you don’t mind the huge database architecture design. But WARNING again. Magento requires MUCH AMPLE knowledge of php and mysql. If you know nuts, stick to hiring someone to build one for you!
My experience with Prestashop had been a good one. I learnt a lot of things but there are still a few glitches here and there. I’m currently trying to solve my REAL TIME CURRENCY UPDATE which appears in parse errors. Many claim it has something to do with my host. But I’m trying to find out. Prestashop doesn’t use division currencies (only multiplication). Which is a pain in the ass. The currency convertor (when converted back & fourth) doesn’t recognize my conversions or either it’s following the super old ECB rates which doesn’t really work on my HOST *I think*… I hate solving problems!
I’m already juggling my 9-6 job, come home to find more problems in Prestashop *so depressed*. Prestashop is still new in the market with many many room for improvements. It’s after all, a free open source e-commerce software so there’s not much to complain.
You can download their ever-updating software from www.prestashop.com
BUT I WARN YOU AGAIN, PEOPLE WITHOUT KNOWLEDGE OF HANDLING SCRIPTING, PLEASE RETHINK AND HIRE SOMEONE WHO KNOWS HOW TO DO IT. After all, you only pay for someone to set it up!
